NETWORK UPDATE:  The FOX PRESEASON FOOTBALL game (St. Louis vs. Tenn) adjusted to 1.7.  After NFL overruns were removed, the whole CBS line-up came down, 60 MINUTES by 0.3 and BIG BROTHER as well as the reruns of MADAM SECRETARY and CSI: CYBER by 0.2 each.  The HOLLYWOOD GAME NIGHT rerun lost 0.1. 

CABLE HIGHLIGHTS:  Just how big was FEAR THE WALKING DEAD?  Its 4.93 rating in 18-49s was considerably better than the 3.8 EMPIRE scored in its debut (although that show just kept climbing, until it went over a 6 in its season finale).  It’s also better than the premiere of THE WALKING DEAD, although that series has also leaped from its start, going over a 7 rating at times.  With the exception of EMPIRE (and NFL football) it’s higher-rated than anything on network television.  In short, AMC now officially has a franchise.  As is usually the case, TALKING DEAD came along for the ride with a 1.95 rating that easily made it the #2 show of the night. 

In non-zombie news, NAKED AND AFRAID (Discovery) dipped 0.06 to 0.07.  At Adult Swim, RICK & MORTY gained 0.11 to 1.06, and AQUA TEEN HUNGER FOREVER jumped by 0.31 to 0.84.  An afternoon Green Bay vs Pittsburgh NFL PRESEASON game on NFL Network was at 0.84.  VH1’s BASKETBALL WIVES rose 0.08 to 0.73.  On HBO, the BALLERS season finale had to face the enormous competition on AMC, and declined by 0.06 to 0.71, while the season finale of THE BRINK dropped 0.04 to 0.36, and LAST WEEK TONIGHT was down a tick to 0.44.  The night started with another woeful showing for SHOW ME A HERO, down 0.05 to 0.10.  On Showtime, RAY DONOVAN fell 0.11 to 0.43, and MASTERS OF SEX lost 0.07 to 0.10.  On TNT, THE LAST SHIP inched up by 0.01 to 0.70, and FALLING SKIES gained 0.03 to 0.47.  FX’s THE STRAIN seemed to be the most hurt by the WALKING DEAD behemoth, probably for obvious reasons, and it tanked by two-tenths to 0.40.  BAR RESCUE (Spike) gained 0.05 to 0.51.  On Food Network, CUTTHROAT KITCHEN was down 0.02 to 0.46, and lead-in GREAT FOOD TRUCK RACE was also at 0.46, with GUY’S GROCERY GAMES ticked down to 0.41.  On Bravo, DON’T BE TARDY dropped 0.12 to 0.44, MARRIED TO MEDICINE lost 0.03 to 0.41, and MANZOD WITH CHILDREN fell 0.11 to 0.28.  E!’s I AM CAIT dropped 0.13 to 0.40, and STEWARTS & HAMILTONS lost a hundredth to 0.13.  BIG BROTHER AFTER DARK (POP) was at 0.05/135K.
