WORLDWIDE STUDIO SCORECARD.  Universal remains #1 by far and the only studio to show significant growth thanks to the Furious 7 juggernaut overseas.

YEAR TO DATE BOX OFFICE. Looking at North American box office, 2015 to date is now +3% above last year and +7% above the average for this point the past four years ($2.639 billion).  Over the same period, Hollywood films have grossed over $7.9 billion worldwide when we add overseas box office (that’s +12% ahead of the comparable worldwide box office last year at this stage).

A reminder: we define the start of each year as the first Monday after New Year’s Day, and our year ends on the Sunday after New Year’s Day the following calendar year.  (The most recent week’s numbers are based on weekend estimates, which are usually at worst a couple of percentage points off from the final weekend tallies.)

The past six weeks in North America are up +1% from the same period last year (worse than the +5% pace last week and the +4% pace two weeks ago) and now +9% from the four-year average for the similar six-week period ($1.001 billion).
