WORLDWIDE STUDIO SCORECARD.  Here is an updated look at the 2019 film slates by studios (films entering wide release in the 2019 calendar year), including worldwide box office for those films during 2020. We will begin the track of the 2020 slate soon.

BOX OFFICE. Looking at North American box office, 2020 is now +18% above last year’s comparable span but -3% below this point averaged over the past four years ($0.729 billion).  Over the same period, Hollywood films have grossed almost $1.9 billion worldwide when we add overseas box office for those films. That’s +17% above the comparable worldwide box office last year but -4% below this point averaged over the past four years ($1.928 billion).

A reminder: we define the start of each year as the first Monday in January (except if that is New Year’s Day), and our year ends on the Sunday after New Year’s Day the following calendar year. The numbers in this chart contain box office grosses from each year’s films as well as grosses from prior year films that carried over into that year.
