Super 8 pulled in $1.5 million in preview screenings yesterday (including midnight shows and Twitter-related early screenings).  The number seems to be good but not great and doesn’t really impact our forecast for the JJ Abrams/ Steven Spielberg film this weekend.  We’ll stick with a $33 million prediction for the picture.

Entertainment Weekly is going out on a limb and is forecasting a $45 million opening for Super 8.  (And that was before the last  minute early screenings were added.)  That’s about the highest number we have seen.  Check back Saturday morning to see the only numbers that count — the dollars spent by real movie consumers.
