>Super 8 is off to a good start during its first weekday period.  The JJ Abrams/ Steven Spielberg drama earned $8.2 million Monday and Tuesday at the box office, a very healthy 22.6% of its opening weekend number.  When a new movie is over 20% during this period, it stands a very good chance of having a better than average decline in its second weekend (something like 42% instead of the normal 49% decline).

Look for Weekend Predictions Thursday, featuring opening number forecasts for Green Lantern and Mr Popper’s Penguins as well as the returning films.
