US/Worldwide Weekend Box Office Report – 12.13.2020

OPENINGS:  There were no wide openings this weekend.  Limited releases included WILD MOUNTAIN THYME (Bleecker Street, also available digitally) at 450 theatres with a $223 per-theatre weekend average and a $100K total; and ARCHENEMY (RLJE, also available digitally) at 94 theatres with a $592 average and a $55K total.

HOLDOVERS:  THE CROODS: A NEW AGE (DreamWorks/Universal) dominated whatever box office there was as its exclusive theatrical window comes to an end.  It dropped 32% to $3M, and might pass $30M in US theatres before it’s done.  It’s also earned $52.1M overseas ($46M of that from China).

HALF BROTHERS (Focus/Universal) lost 30% to $490K and probably won’t get much past $3M in the US.

FREAKY (Blumhouse/Universal, also available digitally) fell 34% to $315K, on its way to perhaps $10M in US theatres.  It also has $6M overseas.

THE WAR WITH GRANDPA (101), now in its 10th weekend of theatrical release, dipped 16% to $267K, still hoping to reach $20M.  It has $9.4M overseas.

ALL MY LIFE (Universal) fell 42% to $215K, and might not reach $2M in US theatres.  It’s at $850K overseas.

NEXT WEEKEND:  A pair of purely theatrical releases.  MONSTER HUNTER (Screen Gems/Sony) has already earned $4.8M overseas (including a truncated China run, yanked shortly after opening for what was perceived as an insulting line of dialogue); and the thriller FATALE (Lionsgate).
