THE SKED’S THURSDAY NETWORK SCORECARD – 11/29/12

The week’s good times stop rolling for the networks.  (Note, comparisons are to 2 weeks ago, as shows were either preempted on Thanksgiving night or had atypical numbers.)

ABC:  LAST RESORT, now just playing out its string, hit a new low 1.0.  The night didn’t get better at 9PM, where GREY’S ANATOMY tied its season low 3.0, precariously just 0.1 ahead of CBS.  SCANDAL, though, had an up night, tying CBS for the 10PM lead with a season high 2.2.

CBS:  THE BIG BANG THEORY was off a bit from its last airing, but still had its 2nd best rating of the season with 5.4.  2 1/2 MEN, perhaps fueled by its latest behind-the-scenes kerfluffle, held steady to its season high 4.1.  PERSON OF INTEREST returned to its standard 2.9, after a 0.2 bump 2 weeks ago.  ELEMENTARY was also marginally down, tying its season low 2.2.

NBC:  The hype for 30 ROCK‘s wedding episode paid off very slightly, as the rating was up 0.1 to a 1.3.  UP ALL NIGHT, however (with a particularly meta episode that seemed meant to address the criticism that its protagonists are hateful to whomever crosses their path), fell to 1.2, its 2nd lowest number of the season.  THE OFFICE crossed a symbolic line, falling to a 1.9 for the first time in its history, and then PARKS & RECREATION took a particularly hard hit, down 0.3 to a new low 1.4.  ROCK CENTER rounded out the ugliness with a 0.9, down 0.2 for the week.

FOX:  The network’s numbers are preliminary, because the NFL Network Saints/Falcons game was simulcast on its New Orleans affiliate.  If the ratings hold, THE X FACTOR and GLEE will both have had good nights, up from 2 weeks ago to 2.7 and 2.2, but we’ll find out this afternoon if that’s the case.

CW:  Similarly, the Atlanta half of the football game was simulcast on the local CW station.  At the moment, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is reporting a 0.2 rise to an excellent 1.5–putting it above both NBC and ABC for the hour–and BEAUTY & THE BEAST is also up 0.2 to 0.8.  Again, however, these numbers are preliminary.

CBS is the only network airing new episodes of its regular line-up tonight.  ABC has reruns at 9-11PM, CW has a repeat ARROW after NIKITA‘s move to the 8PM slot, and only DATELINE is new on NBC.  FOX airs the PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIP NCAA football game.
