CBS:  SURVIVOR’s season premiere was down 0.6 from Fall 2016 to 1.7 (and down 0.2 from the May 2017 finale).  SEAL TEAM had an OK start at 1.5, in 3rd place for the hour ahead of NBC.  The CRIMINAL MINDS season premiere fell 0.6 from 2016 to 1.3, which was also down 0.2 from the May finale.

ABC:  On a night of season premieres, THE GOLDBERGS slid 0.1 to 1.8, SPEECHLESS was down 0.4 to 1.4, MODERN FAMILY fell half a point to 2.1, AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE lost 0.2 to 1.6 (that premiere was on a Tuesday), and DESIGNATED SURVIVOR plunged 50% to 1.1.  They were all up, however, compared to their May season finales (DESIGNATED SURVIVOR was flat).

FOX:  It’s been a long way down for EMPIRE, which was down a painful 1.8 from 2016 to 2.4 (that was, however, steady with the season finale).  Airing with EMPIRE gave STAR a 1.8, down 0.4 from its premiere (which also followed EMPIRE), but up 0.2 from its first regular airing after LETHAL WEAPON.

NBC:  THE BLACKLIST made its Wednesday debut at 1.1, down 0.2 from last year’s premiere (on a Thursday), but up 0.2 from its May finale.  SVU’s season premiere dropped 0.4 from 2016 to 1.4, steady with the May finale.  CHICAGO PD fell 0.3 from last season to 1.3, also steady with May.

CW:  The current 0.3/0.3 numbers for the night’s reruns may drop in finals, since the network was preempted for baseball in NY.

Tonight’s newest show is also its oldest, the return of WILL & GRACE to the air after an 11-year hiatus.   There’s also a 2-hour season premiere for GREY’S ANATOMY.

COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
