CW:  RIVERDALE had the most impressive Season 2 return of any network series this fall, up 0.3 from the January 2017 series premiere (on a Thursday) to a new series high 0.8, which also doubled its Season 1 finale.  But even with that lead-in, DYNASTY floundered at 0.4 (down to 0.3 in its 2d half-hour), making the network 0 for 2 on series launches.

ABC:  THE GOLDBERGS dropped 0.2 to 1.4, SPEECHLESS was also down 0.2 to 1.1, and MODERN FAMILY slipped 0.1 to 1.8.  AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE (1.4) and DESIGNATED SURVIVOR (0.9) were steady.

FOX:  EMPIRE held at 1.9, and STAR gained 0.1 to 1.5.

NBC:  THE BLACKLIST (0.9) and SVU (1.2) were each down 0.1, while CHICAGO PD stayed at 1.2.

CBS:  The entire line-up was steady with last week, with SURVIVOR at 1.6, SEAL TEAM at 1.2, and CRIMINAL MINDS at 1.1.

CW continues rolling out its schedule tonight, with season premieres of SUPERNATURAL and ARROW.

Improvement for Riverdale but Dynasty is doomed.

I wonder what’s going to happen with Dynasty. Internationally, it’s on Netflix, so maybe this will keep it in production…

When is CBS going to give Seal Team a full season order? It’s a disappointment compared to it’s Survivor lead-in, but it’s one of CBS’ strongest demo dramas, so I guess it’s safer bet for a full season than Wisdom Of The Crowd, but it’s no good that it looses against 19th season of SVU.

Assuming that Dynasty doesn’t drop to megaflop 0.2 levels, it should get a renewal. CBS doesn’t have much else on the CW that they outright own. CBS has all the flops coincidently.

I expected something big for Riverdale. I noticed the show was trending worldwide, and when I stopped looking there were over 190k tweets about it within the space of hours of the season premiering.

Sure you should never equate social media reaction to ratings, but the level of interest on social media was ridiculously high given how low it ended last season.
