UPDATED: THE SKED CABLE/NETWORK SCORECARD – 12/17/13

AFTERNOON UPDATE:  Little excitement in the final numbers.  THE VOICE gained 0.1 for a 4.0 total, still substantially below last year’s fall finale.  On CBS, NCIS and PERSON OF INTEREST also both added 0.1, and a couple of the night’s reruns likewise fluctuated by a single tenth.

TUESDAY CABLE:  A quiet night on cable as well.  MOONSHINERS (Discovery) was the night’s highest rated original show at 0.9, and ROBOT CHICKEN (Adult Swim) was at 0.8.  The season finale of AWKWARD. (MTV) scored 0.6, which was way below last season’s 1.1 finale (You’re welcome), although that aired on a Thursday in September, and the series plays to an audience younger than the 18-49 demo in any case.

The Voice finale sang last night, but less loudly than before.

Daily Comparison 2013 Tue Dec 17 three way

NBC:  With only one other network seriously competing on Tuesday, the cycle finale of THE VOICE had an easy win with 3.9, up a big 0.8 from last Tuesday.  But that was down a full point from the Fall 2012 finale, and even down half a point from Spring 2013.  Right now NBC’s fate is completely enmeshed with The Voice‘s, so continued erosion at this rate for the midseason cycle would be cause for concern.  The night started with 2.0 (up 0.1) for THE BIGGEST LOSER.

CBS:  NCIS slipped 0.1 from last week to 2.8, and even facing off against the Voice finale, NCIS LA held even at 2.4.  PERSON OF INTEREST was hit harder, though, and its fall finale (setting up the new big bad for at least the back half of this season) dropped 0.3 from its last airing (it was preempted last week) to 1.9.

ABC:  Reruns aired 8-10PM, and interestingly THE GOLDBERGS (1.0) was stronger than AGENTS OF SHIELD (0.8).  A new episode of WHAT WOULD YOU DO fell 0.2 to 0.7.

FOX:  The weirdest number of the evening:  on a night of reruns, the highest-rated was DADS at 1.0.

CW:  Reruns at 0.3/0.4.

Only THE X FACTOR airs a new regular episode tonight, but there are specials aplenty on the networks.  ABC has the annual BARBARA WALTERS 10 MOST FASCINATING PEOPLE show, CBS starts the night with HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS WITH CELINE DION, NBC offers THE SING-OFF and a MICHAEL BUBLE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL, and CW has IHEARTRADIO JINGLE BELL 2013.  On cable, TNT airs the finale of its ill-fated MOB CITY miniseries.
