UPDATED: THE SKED CABLE/NETWORK THURSDAY SCORECARD – 7/17/14

NETWORK SCORECARD:  BIG BROTHER gained an additional 0.1 in final numbers.

THURSDAY CABLE:  FX fared better than USA in their dual launches last night.  MARRIED premiered at a healthy 0.65 (although that was below the 0.76 for FX’s movie lead-in), and did particularly well with advertiser-prized Men 18-34 (1.1).  YOU’RE THE WORST was weaker at 0.44 (although we don’t have 15-minute numbers, so it’s not clear how many MARRIED viewers may have switched off before that show was over), although it also did disproportionately well with that demo (0.59).  At USA, SATISFACTION premiered at 0.49, scoring best with older women (0.67).  RUSH was weaker with 18-49s at 0.39, but similarly was at 0.59 in Women 25-54.  On Syfy, DEFIANCE and DOMINION were in lock-step at 0.53/0.49.  The 2 15-minute segments of LOITER SQUAD (Adult Swim) were at 0.7/0.5, down 0.1 in segment 2.  The PAWN shows on History were down, with PAWN STARS at 0.9/0.8 (each down 0.1) and PAWNOGRAPHY at 0.6/0.6 (each down 0.2).  RIDICULOUSNESS (MTV) and HERE COMES HONEY BOO BOO (TLC), both at 0.7 last week, were both at 0.5 this time around.

Reality favorites topped the Thursday charts.

In addition to the traditional adult 18-49 ratings grids below (for last night, the same night last year and same night last week), please take a look at our  new chart further down the page with even more ratings detail for each program last night, including other important demographic segments and total audience size.

Daily Comp 3way 2014 Thu Jul 17

CBS:  BIG BROTHER‘s 2.1 was steady with last week, and more than enough to take the night.  The biggest rerun of the evening, no surprise, was THE BIG BANG THEORY at 1.5.

ABC:  The next-to-last BLACK BOX was down 0.1, tying its 0.6 low.  Both ROOKIE BLUE and NY MED stayed at last week’s twin 0.9s.

NBC:  WELCOME TO SWEDEN and WORKING THE ENGELS were each down 0.1 from last week’s premieres, to 0.8/0.6.  But those numbers look worse in context, as lead-in HOLLYWOOD GAME NIGHT was up 0.2 to 1.1, and at 10PM LAST COMIC STANDING was up 0.1 to 1.1.

FOX:  A good night, as both HELL’S KITCHEN and GANG RELATED were up 0.2, to 1.7/0.9.

CW:  Reruns at tiny 0.1s.

Only NBC airs anything new tonight.

DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL

Demo Profile 2014 Thu Jul 17

The chart above looks at nightly numbers beyond the fundamental adult 18-49 rating. For each program, we have listed the three key demographic ratings for advertisers (from youngest to oldest): adults 18-34, adults 18-49, and adults 25-54. While the vast majority of commercial time is sold on the basis of 18-49 delivery, 18-34 and 25-54 are important for particular categories such as fast food and pharmaceuticals, respectively.  Continuing across the page, the demographic share section provides a snapshot of each program’s skew across major segments (women 18-49 vs men 18-49 vs adults 50+). A perfectly balanced audience (equally male and female, equally younger and older) has the same share level in each group, while a difference of 2 or more share points is usually significant. The final column lists the broadcast measure of viewership: the number of total viewers for each program (ages 2 or more), expressed in thousands of people.
