Star Trek Discovery: Boldly going lower than almost any CBS show has gone before….

Didn’t expect it to be this bad! Will it run it’s whole first season on CBS?

      • The Habs Fan

You do realize that most who would watch it already did 3 years ago on CBS All Access. This same episode, which also premiered on CBS main network, got 9 million viewers three years ago.

I’ve already watched the first 2 seasons as have many others, but those ratings numbers really are dismal

        • Monzo

Also watched first two seasons and I have to say Discovery is no must-see tv, even not for Trekkies, but there are some nice twists in season 1. Season 2 is too desperate for my taste. Writers wanted to please Trekkies too much.

So far it seems the only “in-between” shows that work are NBC’s Transplant and CW’s Coroner (for CW standards, I mean).

Love Island into Star Trek Discovery – weird lead-in

          • Destiny

Most critics seem to target Discovery for being too “liberal”. Which to me is odd because Starfleet is socialist in nature and how its setup. Its literally a post scarcity society.

          • Destiny

For example in the Star Trek universe the Federation provides.

            – Universal Heathcare for all
            – Free education
            – Free housing
            – Free food/water

Which wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t a post scarcity society. But I doubt anyone can deny thats not socialism. These are all things Bernie Sanders has pushed over the years, especially healthcare.

The Federation looks after the needs of all of its citizens and allows them to pursue whatever career path they choose.

        • The Habs Fan

I’m trying to figure out how you get that these ratings are dismal considering everyone who would watch Discovery already has on CBS All Access of Blu-ray. 1.7 million people is pure extra people who have not watched it and equal 1.7 million potential new subscribers to CBS All Access (aka Paramount+). Discovery season 1 wouldn’t even be on CBS main network if it wasn’t for Covid, so it’s just bonus.

    • Destiny

The ratings don’t matter as Netflix continue to front the cash to cover the production costs of each season. Its only airing as schedule filler due to the absence of original programming on the night due to Covid.

Correction needed: The Wall was new last night, not a rerun
