>CBS won Easter Sunday with the help of The Masters and a guy named Bubba, while the other networks, largely in repeats, failed to average above a 2 rating throughout the evening.

CBS won the night with the help of The Masters golf tournament and a two-hole playoff victory by a young golfer, Bubba Watson, a self-taught left-hander who has an appealing personality, humility and good habits of sportsmanship (unlike a surly, golf-club throwing mess named Tiger Woods).  The end of regulation, the two holes of playoff golf, and the awarding of the green jacket in Butler Cabin (the most bizarre and awkward awards ceremony in all of sports television) extended until about 7:52 pm.  The 7-8 pm hour scored a very good 3.9 rating with Adults 18-49 and powered the 8-9 pm hour (52 minutes of 60 Minutes and 8 minutes of Amazing Race) to a 2.6 rating, also first place in that hour.  9-10 pm (52 minutes of Amazing Race and 8 minutes of a Good Wife repeat) scored a 2.0 rating, narrowly beating the other networks.  10-11 pm (52 minutes of Good Wife and 8 minutes of CSI: Miami) plunged to a 1.3 rating, third in the hour.  Pity poor CSI: Miami: its season finale was not only delayed until 10:52 pm but it had a repeat of the already poorly-rated Good Wife in front of it, eliminating any benefit from the sports lead-in earlier in the evening.  Last year on this night: 60 Minutes 7:12 (2.2), Amazing Race 8:12 (2.9), Undercover Boss 9:12 (3.1) and CSI: Miami 10:12 (2.3).

With disrupted schedules on CBS and a lot of repeats on the other networks, NBC rebounded a bit last night to rating levels last seen in early March.  Celebrity Apprentice started at 1.7 rating from 9-10 but built to a 2.3 rating from 10-11 pm, enough for first place in that hour.  The boardroom featured the loud, boastful rantings of Lisa Lampanelli, one of the best characters in the history of the “celebrity” version of the show.  Viewers have largely given up on the franchise, but they are missing some great delusional speeches about her creative genius and hard work that (she fails to mention) more often than not puts her team on the losing end each week.  On this night last year:  Dateline (0.9), America’s Next Great Restaurant (1.2) and Celebrity Apprentice (3.0).

NBC Sun    High Low  3.04 3.11 3.18 3.25 4.01 4.08

Celeb App  2.6  1.8  2.3  2.0  1.8  1.8  1.8  2.0*

ABC tried two GCB original episodes last night at 9 pm (1.7 rating) and 10 pm (1.9), with the later episode doing the same as last week’s episode.  The stunt wasn’t helped by repeat programming from 7-9 pm: AFHV and Once Upon a Time repeats both scored a 1.0 rating.  On this night last year on ABC: AFHV repeat (1.6), Secret Millionaire (2.4) and Brothers & Sisters 9-11 pm (1.8).

Repeats on FOX kept the animated comedies in the mid- to high-1 rating range throughout the night.  Last year 8-10 pm on this night: Simpsons (2.3), Bob’s Burgers (1.9), Family Guy (3.3) and Cleveland Show (2.4).
