UPDATED: THE SKED CABLE/NETWORK SUNDAY SCORECARD – 5/18/14

NETWORK UPDATE:  Merely 0.1 additions for the season finale of THE AMAZING RACE and AMERICAN DREAM BUILDERS.

SATURDAY CABLE:  ORPHAN BLACK (BBCAmerica) remained at 0.2, although just thousandths of a ratings point from being rounded up to 0.3.  The rounding worked against its lead-out IN THE FLESH, which technically had a 0.0 rating, although it was a few viewers away from being considered 0.1.  DA VINCI’S DEMONS (Starz) held at 0.2.

SUNDAY CABLE:  After last week’s slight hiccup, GAME OF THRONES came roaring back, up half a ratings point and tying its all-time high 3.9.  SILICON VALLEY, VEEP and LAST WEEK TONIGHT continued to deliver for HBO at 1.0/0.6/0.5, which was up 0.1 for VEEP and steady for the other two.  On Showtime, PENNY DREADFUL went in the wrong direction, tumbling 0.2 to an unimpressive 0.2.  That kept it technically tied with NURSE JACKIE and CALIFORNICATION at 0.2, although the latter was significantly lower than the other two.  MAD MEN (AMC) aired its best episode of the season and rose 0.1 to 0.7, while TURN remained at 0.3.  DEVIOUS MAIDS (Lifetime) was steady at 0.6.  SALEM (WGN America) slid up to a rounded 0.2.  REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA (Bravo) gained 0.1 to 0.9 (plus 0.6 at 10PM).

Viewers were in a musical mood last night.

ABC:  The BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS tied last season’s 3.5.  (Note:  this morning’s headlines about the show’s ratings hitting a 13-year high refer to the older-skewing Total Viewers measure, which was up around 6% from last year.)  The night started with 1.6 for America’s Funniest Home Videos, holding even with last week.

CBS:  60 MINUTES led off the night up 0.2 to 1.3.  The season finales of THE AMAZING RACE and THE GOOD WIFE tied last week’s 1.7/1.2, but that was down 0.7/0.4 from their 2013 finales.  The season finale of THE MENTALIST rose 0.3 from last week to 1.5, but was down 0.2 from last season’s finale.

FOX:  It was season finale night at FOX, too, but due to Cosmos, all the animated series were in different timeslots than last season. BOB’S BURGERS, AMERICAN DAD and THE SIMPSONS were all steady with last week at 0.9/1.2/1.6, while FAMILY GUY was down 0.1 to 2.0.  COSMOS held at 1.1.

NBC:  An ugly night, as a COLDPLAY: GHOST STORIES special and AMERICAN DREAM BUILDERS were both at 0.4 (that was down 0.2 for Dream Builders, a new low), and a rerun WOMEN OF SNL special was at 0.8.

NBC airs THE MAYA RUDOLPH SHOW special tonight after THE VOICE, ABC has the season premiere of THE BACHELORETTE, and MIKE & MOLLY and BONES reach their season finales.
