THE SKED NETWORK SCORECARD – 1/1/14

The first night of 2014 was the last of the network holiday blahs.

CBS:  The Eye’s reruns scored better than anyone else’s, sparked by 1.3 for CRIMINAL MINDS.

ABC:  CBS took the night, but MODERN FAMILY was the evening’s highest rated rerun at 1.5.

NBC:  SVU was on top with 1.0.

FOX:  For the second consecutive night, a DADS rerun topped the network’s other offerings with 0.8.  If only anyone watched the new episodes…

CW:  Reruns of ARROW and THE TOMORROW PEOPLE both at 0.3.

On cable, preliminary household numbers for ESPN showed a strong New Year’s for college bowl games, with a 5.3 for the Chick-Fil-A Bowl on New Year’s Eve (featuring Johnny Manziel and Texas A&M against Duke and 100 total points scored), and on New Year’s Day, 11.2 for the Michigan vs. Stanford Rose Bowl (up 17% from last year’s game), and 7.1 for the Central Florida vs. Baylor Fiesta Bowl (up 9%).

Things begin to get back to normal tonight, with fresh programming on NBC, CBS and ABC.  For NBC, the major event is the return of the Dan Harmon-ed COMMUNITY, while ABC debuts two short-run series, reality show THE TASTE and CIA docudrama THE ASSETS.
