SHOWBUZZDAILY MONDAY NETWORK SCORECARD – 10.27.2014

Things could have been worse for CBS last night.

DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).

Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.

Demo Profile 2014 MON Oct 27

CBS:  As expected, 2 BROKE GIRLS was, at 2.4, nowhere near the lofty heights of last week’s 4.6 for THE BIG BANG THEORY, and even significantly below the 3.0 for HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER on last season’s parallel Monday.  A 2.4 still isn’t a bad number these days, though, and the score was 0.4 above the BROKE GIRLS season finale last May.  If it can hold at that level, CBS would consider it a decent result.  Also as expected, in its first airing without BIG BANG as cover, THE MILLERS hit a series low, but its 1.8 was only a 0.3 drop from last week, which had nearly double the lead-in.  SCORPION, newly ordered for the full season, was similarly down a moderate 0.2 from last week to 2.2, and NCIS: LA slipped 0.1 to a new low 1.6.

NBC:  THE VOICE, with special guest mentor Taylor Swift (whose new album just happened to be released yesterday), rose 0.2 to 3.6, and THE BLACKLIST was also up 0.2, to 2.6.

FOX:  GOTHAM dropped 0.1 to 2.2, and SLEEPY HOLLOW fell 0.2 to 1.6.

ABC:  The network’s Dallas affiliate carried the simulcast of MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, so the 0.1 increase for DANCING WITH THE STARS (to 2.1) and especially the 0.4 jump for CASTLE (to 1.9) may not last past this afternoon.

CW:  JANE THE VIRGIN, recipient of a full-season order, lost 0.1 to 0.4, and THE ORIGINALS stayed at its series low 0.6.

FOX hopes America will finally start paying attention to WORLD SERIES GAME 6 tonight.  ABC preempts its weak sitcom hour for a GREAT HALLOWEEN FRIGHT FIGHT special.

COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
