Fast Demo 2017 Sep 25.MON

CBS:  THE BIG BANG THEORY stayed big with a 3.9 season premiere, remarkably up 0.1 to start its 11th season.  YOUNG SHELDON was everything the network could have hoped as a lead-out at 3.7, although it won’t get to establish any momentum since it airs again in November when BIG BANG moves back to Thursdays.  KEVIN CAN WAIT was solid at 2.3, down 0.3 from last year’s series premiere (when it followed BIG BANG), and ME, MYSELF & I will be fine if it can stay anywhere near its 1.7 debut.  The only off-note of the night was SCORPION, down half a point from last year’s 2-hour premiere to tie its series low 1.0.

ABC:  The night’s preliminary numbers may be adjusted a bit because of preemption for MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL in Dallas.  But even if it loses a tenth or two, the shock of the night was the premiere of THE GOOD DOCTOR, which was way up from its lead-in, currently at a big 2.4.  If the drama can maintain in that neighborhood, it will be the best news ABC has had in quite a while  For now, DANCING WITH THE STARS is down 0.1 from last week to 1.5.

NBC:  The celebrations at CBS and NBC couldn’t drown out the wails of pain at NBC, where THE VOICE plunged 0.7 from last year’s premiere to 2.6, its lowest premiere to date.  THE VOICE traditionally falls in every cycle after its first few weeks, so this doesn’t bode well for the rest of the fall.  THE BRAVE premiered at 1.4, down 0.9 from last year’s special post-VOICE premiere of THE GOOD PLACE (and down to 1.2 in the 10:30PM half-hour).  It was also down 0.4 from the premiere of TIMELESS and down 0.2 from the premiere of TAKEN in that timeslot.

FOX:  SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE finished its season at 0.6, steady with last week.

CW:  Still in reruns at 0.2/0.2.

Tonight’s avalanche of premieres includes LAW & ORDER TRUE CRIMES: THE MENENDEZ KILLINGS, THIS IS US, 2 editions of NCIS, BULL, LETHAL WEAPON, THE MICK and BROOKLYN NINE-NINE.

COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
