I don’t see how SHIELD would still get a seventh season based on that 0.4. Show renewals have been rescinded in the past. I would be really surprised if ABC still goes forward with it if it remains this way. You would think Avengers and Captain Marvel might have boosted it for a start.

SHIELD could be like The CW scam shows that only exist because they’ve got enough international sales to cover costs. If that’s the case and ratings tank harder, I could see Disney removing it from ABC and dumping it on Disney+ or Freeform.

It’s likely money is being made in foreign markets, but I do not know much about that.

Freeform will not get it, as that network seems aimed at older teens and young adults that are primarily female.

Disney+ is an outside possibility, but Disney now owns at least 60% of Hulu now and it is there the show would likely go, if at all.

This sixth season only has 13 episodes and I do believe ABC will air them all even if they burn them off towards the end in some way. It could be people may not have caught on to the season premiere and viewership will bump up a bit, but I doubt it will do any better. Channing Dungey was head of ABC Entertainment and renewed the show for two more seasons, but she is gone now, so that could be a factor if ABC goes ahead with that seventh season. it occurred to me they may have shot both seasons consecutively, or will do so, but I do not know for sure although it would make sense for them to do that.

I don’t know…TV has become unpredictable now, as I can’t quite figure out where the bar has been lowered to and what rhyme or reason networks have for renewing and canceling anymore. I guess it’s the unknown stuff like streaming viewership, On Demand, and such that is now a major consideration in these decisions.

Who knows anymore? It’s difficult to judge or understand why networks make certain decisions.

“Agents of Shield” had fallen to terrible levels and it got renewed for two seasons. It probably has good international sales. Or maybe the international buyers have to buy any new seasons, so the network and production studio (owned by the same corporation) keep renewing it.

In any case, ABC doesn’t seem to care very much given that the show will air on Fridays in the summer. That’s not a particularly important timeslot or one that inspires confidence.

Also, in my opinion the order for the last season is unlikely to be rescinded even though it has happened in the past with other programs. They need to wrap up the storylines properly and this is the kind of show where you don’t want an unhappy fanbase or bad publicity for the franchise.

That last part is one reason why I thought shooting both seasons at once would make sense.

Also, at this point, Fridays would probably be no better than any other day. It’s kind of a shame, as I thought the show became pretty decent after the first season or two. It’s certainly more focused and thought out than the CW’s stuff. Due to the lowered ratings, you could see a drop in production values and expanded casting.
