THE SKED: “Da Vinci” Keeps Painting

Starz has been exceptionally tolerant of ratings that other networks might find discouraging, and without even waiting to see how DA VINCI’S DEMONS will perform without a Spartacus lead-in, the network has already ordered a Season 2.  This is in keeping with renewals for Boss and Magic City after slow starts; the former didn’t make it beyond its second season, while we’ll see this summer what happens to Magic.  In its debut, Da Vinci had a 0.4 in 18-49s, an OK number but one that may fall this week now that Spartacus is gone (and down from the 0.6 for the lead-in).  As usual in these instances, the network has seized upon the highest possible number it can use to celebrate the renewal, and in this case that’s the 2.14M total vieweers that Starz says watched the Da Vinci premiere over the course of its first 3 days, more than doubling the 1M that watched the initial airing.
