The NBA Playoffs are taking off for TNT, with Game 1 of the Western Conference semi-finals averaging a 3.1 rating with Adults 18-49 at 9:43 pm Monday (the Los Angeles Lakers getting pounded by the Oklahoma City Thunder).  Three other early round games managed a 2.0 rating or higher.

At the other end of the sports spectrum, the NHL showed just how narrow its appeal is.  Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals Monday night averaged a 0.5 Adult 18-49 rating and 1,285,000 Viewers 2+ at 8:00 pm (New York Rangers shutting out the New Jersey Devils on NBC Sports Network, formerly known as Versus).  You won’t find that telecast on the following weekly cable chart, which does not list programs at a 1.0 rating or lower.

HBO’s Game of Thrones remains the lone highly rated scripted program on cable, a 1.9 rating (fairly similar to recent weeks).  The top unscripted program (History’s Swamp People) scored a a fairly typical 1.4 rating, although that number should bump up this Thursday after the recent news of the death of one of the participants in the show.
