FOX had a very strong NFL Sunday doubleheader.  The late afternoon time period (4:30 pm ET games) was the highest-rated of the four slots (as usual) with a 14.8 household rating in the 56 metered-markets that cover 70% of the country.  The extraordinary number was the first half of the doubleheader at 1:00 pm, a 14.1 HH rating.   Most of the country saw Dallas at Cincinnati (a decent 10.4 HH rating in 40% of the country), but the other 24% of the country in the metered markets hit a bullseye, scoring between a 16.7 and 26.0 HH rating for very regionalized coverage.

CBS did just okay with an average 11.3 HH rating for its single game (mostly at 1:00 pm, although a sizable 26% of the country got the Miami-SF game at 4 pm which ended up getting trounced by the New Orleans-NY Giants game on FOX).

NBC scored a 13.6 HH rating at 8:30 pm — a good rating but in the unusual position of trailing the first-half of the afternoon doubleheader.

Milwaukee (home of more Green Bay fans than Green Bay itself) delivered an enormous 52.7 HH rating for the Packers game on Sunday Night Football last night.  New Orleans and Pittsburgh were next on the local TV rating list, with each market breaking a 40 HH rating for their team’s game.  Minneapolis, Baltimore and Indianapolis each broke the 35 HH rating barrier.

SATURDAY SPORTS.  Not much to see in the Saturday afternoon sports daypart.  CBS had the most watched event Saturday: a fairly close Army-Navy football game, the only Saturday sporting event to hit a double-digit HH share in the metered markets.  ESPN’s coverage of the Heisman Trophy ceremony was next (with a 3.0 HH rating and 6 share), narrowly beating FOX’s first UFC fight of the season at 8 pm.  The best sports on ABC and NBC failed to break a 1 rating.
