Broadcast Official Nationals Program Ratings Chart  

CABLE HIGHLIGHTS:  Election coverage took up more than half of the Tuesday cable Top 50 chart, and perhaps the only surprise, considering how the evening went, was that CNN and not Fox News took the lead, with the 11PM ET hour at the top with a 5.81 18-49 rating.  However, as usual Fox News owned the 50+ and Total Viewers crowns, in its case for the midnight hour at 8.15/15.4M.  MSNBC’s top hour was 11PM, when it had a 2.29 18-49 rating.  Note that Mitch Metcalf will have a detailed election returns ratings analysis tomorrow, once the broadcast numbers are in.  Comedy Central’s special live hour-long installment of THE DAILY SHOW was dwarfed by real life at 0.32 (simulcast on Spike and VH1 at 0.08 each), and Showtime’s Stephen Colbert 78-minute attempt to dig some comedy out of the evening fared even worse at 0.10.  Lifetime’s evening of THE VIEW coverage was at 0.09.  

The top non-election programming of the night was USA’s WWE SMACKDOWN, down 0.11 from last week to 0.56.  The pre-DAILY SHOW line-up on Comedy Central was TOSH.0 up 0.04 to 0.36, and DRUNK HISTORY steady at 0.21.  Spike’s INK MASTER dropped three-tenths to 0.28.  ESPN’s COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS ranking special fell 0.13 to 0.27.  On Food Network, CHOPPED lost 0.06 to 0.24, and CHOPPED JR held at 0.23.  On BET, REAL HUSBANDS gained 0.04 to 0.23, THE GARY OWEN SHOW was up 0.04 to 0.17, and INK PAPER SCISSORS was down 0.03 to 0.16.  TLC’s COUNTING ON grew by 0.04 to 0.23, OUTDAUGHTERED slipped 0.02 to 0.16, and SWEET 15 fell a tick to 0.10.  Syfy’s AFTERMATH ticked down to 0.13, and CHANNEL ZERO was down 0.04 to 0.12.
