NETWORK UPDATE:  THE MESSENGERS fell by 0.1 in final numbers, and so did the reruns of WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY, ELEMENTARY and HAWAII 5–0.

CABLE HIGHLIGHTS:   Readers will note some glitches in today’s chart, caused by the way Discovery listed its SHARK WEEK shows.  Only the first listings for SHARK CLANS, SHARKS OF THE SHADOWLANDS and SUPER PREDATORS are actually originals, with the second listings their re-airings later in the evening.  In any case, Discovery did have the top 3 shows of the night, respectively at 0.94, 0.87 and 0.63, and it’s impressive that the re-airings were not that far behind the premiere runs.  The highest-rated non-shark show was Disney’s GIRL MEETS WORLD at 0.48 (like many of the Friday shows, it didn’t air last week due to the July 4th weekend holiday), with JESSIE at 0.37.  While not an original, ABCFamily took advantage of the MINIONS opening to take a run of DESPICABLE ME, which drew a 0.43.  HGTV’s TINY HOUSE HUNTERS was at 0.42.  Fox Sports 1’s coverage of the CONCACAF GOLD CUP was the strongest sports telecast of the night at 0.40.  MARRIAGE BOOT CAMP (We) returned at 0.36, down 0.04 from 2 weeks ago.  LOVE THY NEIGHBOR (OWN) nearly doubled last week, with 0.31/0.29 compared to 0.16/0.16.  Syfy’s DEFIANCE, however, lost a tenth to 0.26, while DARK MATTER gained 0.03 to 0.25, and KILLJOYS ticked up to 0.22.  BIG BROTHER AFTER DARK (POP) was at 0.05/107K
