With the only two movies that have opened so far in the ShowBuzzDaily Summer Movie Draft, Team Metcalf has expanded the early lead to $402.8 million. Dark Shadows (the #17 pick overall) opened this past weekend with an okay $29.7 million, but no one expects the Tim Burton film to have much impact long term. However, Marvel’s The Avengers (the #2 pick overall) has ballooned to $373.1 million after its record-setting second weekend. Click “read more” to see the updated tracking chart.
This weekend the other two teams get into the fight. Team Weil will see Battleship (the #13 pick overall) open Friday, while Team Salem gets going with The Dictator (#22 overall) on Wednesday. Team Metcalf also has What to Expect When You’re Expecting (#23) opening Friday, although the third weekend for The Avengers will certainly continue to be the most potent force on that slate.
