Green Lantern debuts on the Worldwide Ranking at #15, while Mr Popper’s Penguins appears outside the Top 20.  Pirates of the Caribbean closes in on $1 billion worldwide.
Green Lantern debuts at #15 on the Top 20 Worldwide list with a very limited overseas release so far, while Mr Popper’s Penguins finds itself way down at #39.  Super 8 has moved into the Top 20 (#19) with a limited overseas tally starting to come in.  Kung Fu Panda 2 has moved past Thor to take the #5 spot and now has an overseas total greater than Hangover Part II.  With a little luck overseas, Panda could tie Hangover in terms of worldwide gross.  And the #1 movie — by far — is Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which is very close to $1 billion worldwide.  Only the final Harry Potter movie will seriously challenge this worldwide total.

Year to date, the 61 wide release American films have grossed about $8.4 billion worldwide, with $4.1 billion coming from North America and fully $4.3 billion from overseas.
