The Dark Knight Rises grossed a preliminary $19.4 million Monday, bringing its four-day domestic total to $180.3 million.  Similar to Saturday and Sunday’s results, Monday lagged behind The Dark Knight‘s pace four years ago.

The Dark Knight grossed $24.5 million on Monday, July 21, 2008 (its fourth day of release and its first Monday).  Through four days, The Dark Knight had grossed $182.9 million.

The rest of that week in 2008 The Dark Knight grossed $20.9 million on Tuesday, $18.4 million on Wednesday and $16.5 million on Thursday.  The Dark Knight Rises will probably also follow the typical pattern of declining a little each weekday the rest of this week, although any uptick in the next few days could indicate the shock of the Aurora massacre is subsiding.
